One alleged rape occurred in the basement of the crown prince's family residence, the court was informed.

Oslo District Court found 29-year-old Marius Borg Hoiby, who entered the royal family when his mother Mette-Marit wed Haakon in 2001, guilty of two counts of rape, including one in the basement of the crown prince’s home.

He was cleared of two additional rape allegations.

The court was presented with evidence of Hoiby’s drug dependency, self-recorded videos of sexual interactions, and hundreds of incriminating electronic messages exchanged with former partners.

Prosecutors, who requested a sentence of seven years and seven months in prison, stated that the four women accusing him of rape, in both the established and unsubstantiated cases, had each time been too unconscious or too incapacitated to oppose him after attending parties.
